Peter Gaymann exhibition ‘Da Lachen Ja die Hühner’

The exhibition of works by renowned cartoonist Peter Gaymann will be on display in the Baltic-Hall at Europa-Park from 23. November 2023 to 07. January 2024.

Peter Gaymann, born in Freiburg im Breisgau in 1950, is one of the most successful and popular cartoonists in Germany. After completing his studies (Social Pedagogy) in his hometown, he decided to pursue his artistic passion, becoming self-employed as a humorous illustrator in 1976. The 100th book by Peter Gaymann was published in 2019, with many of his publications becoming bestsellers. His trademark characters are ‘The Chickens’, which are well known to the public and feature the abbreviation P.GAY on postcards, calendars, posters and etchings.

Peter Gaymann's cartoons were opened up to a large audience through publications and series in TAZ, Zeit Magazin, Bunte as well as many other magazines and newspapers. Since 1990, for 30 years he has focussed on the challenges faced by men and women living together in the series ‘Die Paar Probleme’ (‘Couple Problems’) for the women's magazine 'Brigitte'. In 2014, following Janosh and Loriot, Peter Gaymann had the honour of designing two stamps for Easter, for Deutsche Post with a circulation of 70 million.

Gaymann's works are shown as solo and thematic exhibitions in galleries and museums both in Germany and abroad: Wilhelm-Busch-Museum Hannover, Picture Book Museum Burg Wissem in Troisdorf, Arp Museum Remagen, Museum of Communication Berlin, Museum für Neue Kunst Freiburg, Bayreuth Art Museum, Buchheim Museum Bernried, Europa-Park, etc.
